5천만 화소라 아무래도 개방 해상력은 떨어지네요.아트 24mm f1.4가 이 정도면 다른 24mm f1.4는 개방에서 더욱 처참한 결과가 나올것으로 예상됩니다.

그래서 저기 쥔장도 광학적 화질에 대해서는 평가를 일단 보류했더군요.

Verdict

So has Sigma done it again ? Well, the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM | A isn't flawless but pretty good nonetheless (keeping in mind that the test was performed on a 50mp sensor!). The center quality is nice straight at f/1.4 but the borders are plain soft here. Thus this is good enough for close-ups where the emphasis is on the center anyway but for low-light shots of a wider scene, this isn't so hot really. f/2 is better, of course, but the full potential starts to kick in from f/2.8. The peak performance is reached around the f/4 mark where the lens reaches a very high quality across the image frame. The lateral CAs are low and not disturbing. The same goes for the slight barrel distortion. A weakness is certainly the extreme vignetting at fully open aperture although you may argue that this can also be a desired effect at times (but then you could add this easily via post-processing anyway). Now to be fair - the Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 USM L II is even worse here. The quality of the bokeh is decent especially regarding the rendition of out-of-focus highlights - at least in the inner image zone, less so in the corners. You may spot a bit of bokeh fringing at large apertures but it's not obtrusive.

The build quality is clearly up to professional standards ... except for the lack of weather sealing. AF speed isn't a primary aspect on a 24mm lens but Sigma's HSM does a pretty fast and silent job here.

While the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM | A is certainly not a bad lens, it is still the weakest prime of the Art series that we have tested so far. To be fair - an ultra-large aperture 24mm lens is simply more difficult to design than a 35mm or 50mm lens. This also applies to the Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 USM L II. While we have tested the Canon on 20mp only so far, it already struggled with the image corners at large apertures here so it's very unlikely to be better on the EOS 5Ds R. Thus if you struggle to decide between the two, we'd actually recommend to have a closer look at the Sigma.
