Alright, so they might not be made out of Gorilla Glass, but filter manufacturer Hoya has announced a new lineup of HD3 photography filters that are said to be four times stronger than ‘standard optical glass’ and antireflective coatings that are 800% harder than the previous HD2 generation filters, all while letting in 99.7% of light.

The two new filters come in both UV and Circular Polarizer options, as well as sizes ranging from 37mm to 82mm, ensuring there’s a size and option to fit your need.

Hoya says its engineers have developed a new ‘ultra-hard nano-coating formula in addition to a new process for applying layers of antireflective coating to the HD3 glass’ that is said to improve upon the optical qualities and toughness of the filters.

The glass itself is encased inside a low-profile aluminum frame designed to hold the filter perfectly parallel to your sensor plane. This frame also provides weather-sealing for lenses that are otherwise left vulnerable through their front element.
